Transmission network operator

On the way towards intelligent networks, DNOs are an important link between TNOs and the final consumer. This is due to the fact that significant portions of renewable energies are fed into the medium- and low-voltage networks. Inaccurate load forecasts lead to overvoltages during low-load periods and to load reversals. Therefore, our solutions focus not only on the comprehensive supervision and control of the high-, medium- and low-voltage networks, but also on supply quality and all matters concerning renewable energy plants (planning, monitoring, supply management, forecast). For this purpose, IDS has developed an integrated and comprehensive solution which can also be integrated into already existing infrastructures.

In the IDS HIGH-LEIT SCADA system, all information and data from the high, medium and low voltage networks down to the final consumer are collected and processed. To relieve the operator from tasks caused by increasingly complex processes in the distribution network, IDS HIGH-LEIT provides – in the event of faults – partly automated functions for supply recovery as well as protection against load reversal, by means of efficient supply management. For this purpose, both the stipulations of TNOs concerning the gradual reduction of renewable energy supply and inhouse mechanisms for the reduction of bottlenecks, excess energy or overvoltage can be implemented. The supply management function uses load-flow calculations based on data from the GIS system (cable data, routes, ...) to eliminate bottlenecks in the power grid, controls renewable power installations or connects/ disconnects consumers, thereby preventing the occurrence of load reversals. The load management module carries out the execution of preset load profiles.
