Regional Network Control Centre Soazza
South of the Swiss mountain village Soazza, a 380 kV transformer station and a regional network control centre are located; the latter enables the operation and monitoring of all power stations owned by Misoxer Kraftwerke AG, as well as the 50/16 kV network. This network control centre had to be modernised.
Project Description
In the regional network control centre, the various local workplaces of the regional power station groups were to be replaced by a uniform control system from one manufacturer. The new control system had to be state-of-the-art and had to include the sophisticated operation and control concepts which were designed and continually upgraded by the owner.
Implementation
At the end of 2004, Misoxer Kraftwerke AG commissioned a redundant IDS HIGH-LEIT SCADA system featuring several workstations and a front-end computer. The control system is bilingual, i.e. the user environment for low-level generating works is in German and that of the control station staff is completely in Italian.
The workstations are comfortably equipped according to SAA standard. Process visualisation is supported by a multi-screen display.
The control centre is staffed around the clock. If necessary, the operators can carry out control actions via a mobile workstation. Control room staff are alerted via a sophisticated alarm concept (optic and acoustic alarms).
Topology and Simulation
Apart from the “classic” SCADA functions for visualisation and control, the IDS HIGH-LEIT system also includes an integrated topology module which enables a clear and detailed overview of the power grid’s switching status by means of specific colouring. It is also possible to simulate switching operations in advance and to assess their effects on the power grid.
