SCADA System with Communication and Telecontrol System for EnBW Gasnetz GmbH in Stuttgart
In May 2008, IDS GmbH received the order from EnBW Gasnetz GmbH, a gas supplier with headquarters in Stuttgart, for the delivery of a highly-available SCADA system for the operation and monitoring of the gas supply for the inhabitants of Greater Stuttgart. Another part of the project is the complete modernization and upgrading of the automation and transportation system. EnBW Gasnetz GmbH supplies ca. 240,000 private customers, ca. 4,000 customers from industry and, to-date, 13 resellers.
The gas pipeline network monitored by EnBW Gasnetz GmbH has pressure stages from <1 to 70 bar and a total length of ca. 4,500 km.
The system architecture, where all stations are connected via a ring structure, significantly reduces life-cycle costs through a minimisation of service and maintenance works. System operation is intuitive and provides optimum support for the safe operation of the gas supply system.
With this project, IDS IDS GmbH steadily continue on their road to success and have strengthened their position as market leader for SCADA systems. Moreover, IDS Group have proved their ability to develop and provide adequate solutions for the continually changing requirements of a liberalised gas market.
Project Goals:
* Modernisation and upgrading of the SCADA system
* Connection of all stations via ring structure
* Discontinuation of the existing substation automation equipment
* Discontinuation of the existing communication technology
* Changing requirements of a liberalised gas market
* Reduction of service and maintenance efforts
* Intuitive system operation
Project Details:
* Length of the gas pipeline networtk: 4,418 km
* Pressure stages ranging from PN 4 bar to PN 70 bar
* Pipe diameter: from DN 100 to DN 500 mm
* Each year, over 17.5 billion kWh – and still counting - are being sold
* Gas supply for ca. 1.6 million people
* The longest telecontrol line has a length of 98 km (Stuttgart–Bad Teinach)
