Multi-Utility SCADA System for Energy, Gas and Water
For the operation, monitoring and optimisation of the energy and water networks and of two cavern storage facilities for natural gas, Stadtwerke Kiel AG installed a new multi-utility SCADA system which officially started operation in November 2005. The old, technically outdated control centre for the energy network was replaced by a new IDS HIGH-LEIT SCADA system. The process control room for gas and water delivered by IDS was combined with the control facilities for the power supply system into one multi-utility control centre.
In the new control centre, the operation and monitoring of the energy, gas and water networks is done via large screen with two 70” cubes and via six control room workplaces and four mobile terminals. The object-oriented data model comprises more than 50,000 information elements.
Special Features
- Gas demand forecast based on neural networks
- Topological grid calculation with interlocking and troubleshooting
- Central control of the VFT system with operations schedule function via the control system
- Station control system for the natural gas storage cavern “Rönne”
