Interfaces

With IDS HIGH-LEIT, the following interfaces are integrated into the server:

  • Interfaces
    • API
    • ODBC
    • OPC
    • IEC60870-6/TASE.2
    • Excel interface, Import/Export of ASCII (CSV) files
  • Native Drivers
    • IEC 60870-5-104
    • Profibus
    • TG80x
  • FEP Drivers
    • IEC 60870-5-101,103
    • Others, e.g. SAT, Siemens etc.
  • OPC Drivers
  • DNP
    • Others, e.g. Allen Bradley, Foundation Fieldbus etc.
    • IEC60870-6/TASE.2

Due to the liberalisation of the energy market, there is an increased demand for cooperation and communication between power generation and power distribution companies. IDS GmbH offers a future-oriented technical solution in the shape of a control system interface according to IEC60870-6 (TASE.2), thereby supporting a manufacturer-spanning international format which becomes increasingly established as the communication standard between SCADA systems – not only in the energy supply sector.
IDS uses sophisticated implementations of the TASE.2 protocol which can be used at any  time to upgrade already existing installations. Thanks to the use of standard components (router, WAN etc.) it is possible to implement TASE.2 connections at low cost.
The exchange of data can take place both between equal systems and systems with a hierarchical structure. Information can be transmitted either event-oriented, cyclically or upon request. Data transfer takes place according to the Client-Server principle, i.e. the TASE Client polls process information from the TASE server and sends control information back to the TASE server.

OPC
OPC (OLE for Process Control) is an open interface standard which is maintained by the OPC foundation (www.opcfoundation.org). It is based on the OLE COM (component object model) and DCOM (distributed component object model) technology from Microsoft. OPC facilitates the connection of automation components of different manufacturers to Windows applications and enables the simple, standardised data exchange between automation/control applications and control systems.
Depending on the scope of data to be transmitted, the HIGH-LEIT OPC Gateway is installed as dedicated or non-dedicated server. It is possible to operate a system with any given number of OPC Gateways (also in redundant form).
The IDS OPC Gateway encapsulates the OPC functionality in a self-contained application; from the control system’s point of view, it represents a telemetry network with IEC  60870-5-101/104 transmission protocol.
Upgrades with respect to the connection status, redundancy and the parameterisation of information objects have made the IDS OPC Gateway fully compatible with IDS telecontrol devices.
