IDS SAS Station Automation System
Modern computer-based control systems, like the digital station automation system IDS SAS, are an essential part of modern control systems for switchgear. IDS SAS fulfils all requirements of station control with regard to technical integratability, range o functions and operational security. Its range of applications comprises local and remote control as well as interfacing with protection and SCADA systems.
IDS SAS is divided into a bay control and a station control layer. Each switchgear bay has an autarkic bay controller for connection to the process (decentralized architecture) and a cabinet-mounted workstation for local control. The system components on the station control layer fulfil centrally organized functions, passing on the data to the higher-level network control centre and to the neighbouring switchgear. The station control terminal with comprehensive SCADA functions provides a clear and precise overview of switching operations within the process.
Within the IDS SAS system, the current communication standards (IEC 60870-5-101/-103, IEC 61850) can be used either exclusively or in the form of heterogenous "mixed" variations, thereby facilitating e.g. the step-by-step upgrading or expansion of systems and installations.
