Advanced Application: Water
HIGH-LEIT does not only provide functions for zero set determination and leakage monitoring, but also for water demand forecasts. Based on the demand forecast and the available reservoir capacity in the pure water tanks, the use of feed pumps can be optimised. Additionally, procedures for optimised mixed-water control are available.
Decentralised Monitoring and Automation
The central monitoring and operations optimisation system of the water supply requires a decentralised automation of the local installations and their data transmission facilities. IDS systems can be used for automation tasks in the production and treatment of water, in pumping stations and for reservoir management.
Central Monitoring, Automation and Optimisation
Control systems give the operator an overview of all events and processes occurring in the entire system, from water production to network monitoring. The objective coverage of the process in the central control room, as well as data logging, enable a better overview and, therefore, optimum operation and control of all installations and systems. Remote monitoring of distributed installations ensure quick and effective action in the event of faults.
In this manner, the increasing requirements with respect to system reliability and availability can be fulfilled while keeping the cost for energy, equipment and staff on an economically justifiable level. This also applies for the monitoring and automatic fault alarms in smaller units that are not continually staffed.
Thanks to superordinate controls, all available production units can be optimised with respect to water quality and production costs; water treatment and storage can be made more economical and a guaranteed water supply can be ensured even at peak times. IDS systems can be used for
- Optimisation of the water quality
- Optimisation of water production and reservoir management
- Network monitoring with leak detection
- Central data acquisition
