New Service Contract Module: Provision of PC and Network Hardware
Apart from the familiar service contract modules, IDS now offers the provision of spare parts and function-compatible replacement hardware, as an expansion of the Service Contract module “On-Site System Service”. The PC and network hardware components listed in the system specification will be provided on the working day following the day of the order.
This new service contract module offers the following benefits to our customers: shorter replacement times for faulty components, no installation of outdated replacement hardware from customer stocks and, consequently, an improved system availability.
As an option, it is possible to arrange a full-service contract which includes the preventive exchange of all PC and network components at five-year intervals or earlier.

Thüga Customer Conference on May 05 and 06, 2009, at Stadtwerke Pforzheim
The 17th Thüga Customer Conference of IDS was held at the central control room of Stadtwerke Pforzheim (SWP) – Pforzheim Municipal Utility.
Mr Günther, Head of the Network Construction and Operation department, welcomed ca. 30 attendants in the historical Friedrichsberg waterworks. Mr Herzog, from the Thüga head office, presented the agenda and hosted the conference.

Thüga Customer Conference – a Resounding Success! !
After the initial greetings and a presentation of the agenda, Mr Henry Rahn introduced himself as new Head of Sales of IDS GmbH. We are happy to welcome two new IDS customers: SW Tauberfranken and SW ETO. The first day was dominated by experience reports from customers as well discussions of current problems and suggestions for improvement. Mr Norbert Wagner, CEO of IDS GmbH, hosted a Q&A session and gave an overview of the company’s current activities. An evaluation of questionnaires handed out by Mr Herzog from Thüga showed that, all in all, there is a high degree of customer satisfaction amongst IDS customers. At the end of the first day, Mr Göbelbecker, Head of Projects at IDS, introduced new developments in the fields of service and maintenance and explained the benefits of specific preventive maintenance, warehousing of IT components at IDS for rapid supply and installation, and innovations of the hotline service.
The evening programme started with a guided tour through Pforzheim’s fascinating jewellery museum and outlet – thankfully, the shops were already closed, or else this trip would have put a severe strain on our guest’s purses! However, the visitors were fascinated by the huge variety of jewellery on offer, as well as the large and interesting exhibition. – The subsequent dinner was spent in a relaxing atmosphere, with plenty of opportunity for a friendly chat or an exchange of experiences.
The second day of the conference began with a presentation by Mr Uwe Jeschke, Head of Sales for south Germany, showcasing the new developments in the field of automation and SCADA system, with particular emphasis on the hybrid device ACOS 750 and the ACOS Touchview display for operation and monitoring. Mr Andreas Seiler (IDS product manager/SCADA systems) presented the new functions of HIGH-LEIT Release 4.18, both by means of a transparency show and “live“ in the system. Mr Held from Energienetze Bayern gave a practical experience report about the successful changeover from analog post-office leased lines to modern DSL telecommunication technology, illustrating how IDS products can be optimally combined and integrated into an overall solution by means of modern communication solutions.
The conference was concluded with a guided tour through the historical Friedrichsberg waterworks which, since 1899, provide drinking water for the city of Pforzheim. Today, the Friedrichsberg waterworks are an ultra-modern installation where groundwater and water from Lake Constance are mixed to ensure a safe and reliable supply of drinking water for the inhabitants of Pforzheim. The waterworks’ “glass fountain” showed how water is produced from the deep wells of the Enz river.
The customer conference received high praise from all participants. The organizing committee – Mr Jaensch, Mr Knebel and Mr Sabljak - from Stadtwerke Pforzheim did an excellent job in organizing a perfect conference and supporting programme. Apart from technical presentations, there was ample room for an exchange of experiences and for discussions. The cooperation between Thüga, its partners and IDS GmbH is extremely constructive, and the Thüga customer conference provides an ideal platform for the continuous and customer-oriented optimization of systems and services.
