Did you know…

… that most IDS replacement modules arrive on the customer’s premises within 48 hours after being ordered at our Service Centre?

The evaluation of delivery processes for replacement modules conducted in 2007 has shown that IDS has been able to significantly improve delivery times in comparison with previous years.

And, yes, this makes us feel a bit proud. Because we realise that – in times of increasing cost pressure – through these improvements, we enable customers to minimise their warehousing costs and to optimise their service processes.

As part of the continual further development of the HIGH-LEIT NT SCADA system software, the new release 4.18 will be available as of June 2008. Development processes have been concluded, and the new software version currently undergoes comprehensive tests. With this new release, IDS offers a wide range of functional upgrades and technical improvements:

• HIGH-LEIT is now completely compatible with operating systems Windows VISTA/2008 Server. To ensure compatibility with older systems, HIGH-LEIT also supports Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP

• The gas optimisation function was upgraded in accordance with the requirements of the cooperation agreement Gas (KoV II). This includes the separation of system buffers and reservoirs as well as the optimisation of system buffers and reservoir management.

• All dialogues fort he setting of commands, setpoints etc. can now be adapted to the customer’s needs via Script Editor

• All flags and notes can now be defined with “wake-up function“, with reminders being sent once or cyclically at predefined intervals

• It is now possible to archive not only the incremetns, but also the meter readings for counter values

• HIGH-LETI NT is capable of receiving SMS messages that have been generated via mobile phone or GSM modem. The SCADA system checks the SMS and – based on this message – generates an event signal, together with an entry in the event log and – if necessary – an alarm.

Due to the divestment of IDS from SAG and the concomittant closure of the SAG branch in Linz/Austria in 2006, it was impossible to optimally attend to the needs of IDS customers in Austria. The long distances to IDS headquarters or branches in Germany considerably hindered satisfactory support services.

Bearing this situation in mind, IDS was particularly eager to find a new partner in Austria who would not only be in charge of already installed systems but also open up new projects in cooperation with IDS.

We are happy to report that our previous successful cooperation with Schubert Elektroanlagen Gesellschaft mbH in Ober-Grafendorf near St. Pölten/Austria is now being continued. Since 01 January, 2008, IDS have started a cooperation with Automation Competence Center GmbH (ACC), a subsidiary of Schubert Elektroanlagen, which is also located in Ober-Grafendorf.

ACC will undertake to represent IDS GmbH in Austria and in neighbouring Slovakia. A team of 17 experts will be primarily involved in projects for the automation of energy, gas and water installations, in close cooperation with Schubert Elektroanlagen.

The Thüga Customer Conference was held in March 2008, in Nordhausen/Thüringen. After an introduction of the EnergieVersorgung Nordhausen (Nordhausen Energy Company) through its manager, Mr Göppel, the first day focussed on customer feedback concerning their experience with running projects and on a discussion of problems and suggestions for improvement between customers and the IDS management. At the end of the first day, Mr Andreas Seiler introduced the new developments in Release 4.18 of the IDS HIGH-LEIT SCADA system.

The second day started with a presentation of Mr Uwe Jeschke on modern transmission concepts for applications in telecontrol and SCADA systems. Mr Ludger Böggering of Dr Neuhaus company expanded on this topic with particular reference to GPRS/EDGE. The products of Dr Neuhaus company are ideal for combination with telecontrol equipment by IDS GmbH and offer attractive possibilities for modern transmission concepts.

Another  focal point was the topic “security in IT systems“. Mr Andreas Seiler, from IDS, highlighted the measures and possibilities implemented at IDS for improving security in SCADA systems.

The Thüga Customer Conference received a positive feedback from all participants and continues to be an important platform for exchange of experience and for discussions between customers and IDS GmbH as the manufacturer and supplier of telecontrol and SCADA systems.
