E-world 2012 Trade Fair – Meet the IDS Group!

IDS Group has expanded – we’d like to introduce you to our new members! For the first time, the complete IDS Group will be present on Europe’s leading energy trade fair from February 07 to 09 2012, in Hall 2, Stall No. 514. Together with our subsidiaries, CAIGOS GmbH and Berg GmbH, we are going to showcase solutions for energy feed-in management as a SCADA function, interfaces with renewable energy plants and their integration into control system, the management of l.v. networks with GIS integration into control systems, as well as asset/maintenance and outage management with ACOS NMS.

ETG/FNN Tutorial for Protection and Control Engineering in Mainz (14 and 15 February, 2012)

On the 14th and 15th of February 2012, the Power Engineering Society (ETG) of the German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (VDE), together with the Forum on Network Engineering and Operation (FNN) are holding their well-known and highly esteemed tutorial on Protection and Control Engineering at the Congress Center in Mainz.
IDS will participate with contributions focussing on the current tasks of regional and municipal supply companies, including the integration of renewable energy and cogeneration plants into network control systems and their optimization, the management of decentralized feed-in sources and the automation of local network stations. Additionally, IDS is going to showcase the ACOS 300 series for innovative protection solutions for medium-voltage networks and transformers on the high-voltage level.

New SCADA System from IDS installed at Osterholz Municipal Utility

Osterholzer Stadtwerke GmbH (Osterholz Municipal Utility) is the biggest supplier of energy and drinking water in the Osterholz region, supplying more than 60,000 inhabitants.

The newly installed IDS HIGH-LEIT SCADA system communicates with the external buildings via existing RTUs from Telegyr new IDS telecontrol equipment, via the IEC 60870-5-101/-104 standard protocol by means of an SHDSL ring. The already existing control system of the Lilienthal local utility was also integrated; hence, IT security is a central factor. For this purpose, a demilitarized zone (DMZ) was set up, including a central firewall, terminal server and VLANs. With regard to system functions, the focus is on power grid topology, energy supply optimization, pipeline monitoring, reservoir management and a central data management system.

Energy Management Systems from BERG GmbH

BERG GmbH from Martinsried (near Munich) has been active in the field of energy management solutions for over 30 years. Their portfolio of products and services includes energy management solutions according to ISO 50001 (DIN EN 16001), including measuring instruments, data acquisition for trade, industry and the public sector. In 2011, BERG GmbH became part of IDS Group. BERG systems ideally complement IDS products, because they enable us to provide large-scale consumers with systems for the optimization of energy consumption and for load management.

BERG GmbH already cooperates with municipal utility companies and other energy suppliers to aid large consumers in establishing energy management systems. Thus, energy suppliers are able to directly pass on their expert knowledge to their customers.BERG GmbH has long-standing experience in this field. Given the fact that German legislation offers tax bonuses to large-scale consumers by way of compensation for measures promoting increased efficiency and energy management, the solutions provided by BERG are becoming even more attractive to customers.
